Jim Hill began his career with the Burlington Northern Railroad in Wyoming. He began as a brakeman and soon took promotion to locomotive engineer. Jim's interests changed and he made his move into the management side of things working as a Trainmaster and Road Foreman staying in the Wyoming and South Dakota area. Jim then moved to Kansas City as an instructor and Manager of Engineer Training at the new BN Technical Training Center. He soon progressed to System Manager of Operating Practices and from there on to several other important jobs: Superintendent of Operations, Division Superintendent, Director of Operating Practices and Derailment Prevention, and finally Assistant Vice President of Technical Training and Rules before leaving the BNSF and creating RSTR. |

Tony Crabb began his career with the Missouri Pacific Railroad in Texas. He hired out as a brakeman and then took promotion to fireman and then engineer. He then changed companies working as an engineer for the Colorado & Southern Railroad in Colorado. Tony's interests changed and he began work as a Road Foreman of Engines out of Denver. He then moved to Kansas City as an instructor and Manager of Engineer Training at the BN's Overland Park Technical Training Center. His next move was to Seattle where he worked as a Manager of Operating Practices then back again to Kansas City to work as the System Manager of Operating Practices and finally as one of three General Road Foremen for the BNSF before joining RSTR. |

Tim Cusack attended the University of Evansville earning a BS degree in Business Administration. He continued his formal education, attending the College of William and Mary earning an MBA degree. Given the opportunity to learn the operations end of the railroad business from the bottom up, Tim started his railroad career by becoming a brakeman for the Burlington Northern Railroad out in the Powder River of Wyoming. After a brief stint as a brakeman/conductor, he took promotion to fireman and then engineer. Tim continued to work as an engineer in the Powder River for the next 18 years. All during this time he was a field trainer for locomotive engineer trainees. New opportunities opened up for Tim and he moved to Kansas City becoming an Engineer Instructor and a Manager of Engineer Training at BN's Overland Park Technical Training Center. After the merger with the Santa Fe, Tim continued as an Engineer Instructor and became a Manager of Technical Training and Rules. Soon after, he became the Manager for Shortline Engineer Training before leaving BNSF and creating RSTR. |

John Herhalt attended Michigan State University, and after returning from Vietnam his career began with the Burlington Northern Railroad in Alliance Nebraska. He started as a brakeman and soon took promotion to conductor and Locomotive engineer in Sterling Colorado. John advanced into the management ranks working as a Road Foreman and Trainmaster. In 1998 he was promoted to an instructor position in the BNSF Technical Training Center at Overland Park KS. John participated in the initial roll out of Remote Control on BNSF, and was instrumental in the design and implementation of the training program. John has attended the GE locomotive and Westinghouse Airbrake Schools. After retiring from BNSF John joined the staff of RSTR in April of 2007. |

Jake Goering began his railroad career in 1964 at Emporia, Kansas as brakeman/switchman for the AT&SF Railroad while attending college. Graduating with a BA degree in 1968 from Wichita State University, he then worked various management training positions, and in 1971 he was promoted to Division Safety Supervisor. After four years in the safety department Jake returned to his interest in operations working as Assistant Trainmaster, then Trainmaster at the Fort Worth and Dallas terminals. In 1992 he followed his interest in Safety and Rules and worked at the Santa Fe Railroad Training Center at Lenexa and after merger at the BNSF facility in Overland Park, as Manager of Technical Training and Rules. Jakes’ last two years with the BNSF he returned to the craft working as a conductor in through freight and RCO in terminal operations, maintaining his interest in safety and rules doing field training for new hire conductors several months each year. Jake joined RSTR in October of 2004. |

Tom Nagel began his railroad career in 1969 at Centralia, Illinois as brakeman/switchman for the CB&Q Railroad. He went into engine service as a locomotive fireman in 1973 and was promoted to locomotive engineer in 1974. After working as an engineer for the Burlington Northern Railroad he accepted a promotion to Road Foreman of Engines in Chicago, Illinois. In 1984 he was transferred to the Nebraska Division and worked as a Road Foreman, Terminal Trainmaster, Trainmaster and Manager of Operating Practices. During this time he completed his undergraduate studies at Bellevue College and graduated with a B.S. degree in Management in 1993. In 2001 he was promoted to General Road Foreman working for the Operating Practices Dept. in Fort Worth. He was responsible for the mentoring, training and supervision of Road Foreman on the Nebraska, Powder River, Colorado and Twin Cities Divisions. He was involved with the initial implementation of AC power, Distributed Power, and ETMS on the BN and BNSF. In February 2007, following a BNSF restructuring, he returned to work for the Nebraska and Colorado Divisions as Superintendent of Operating Practices in Omaha, Nebraska until his retirement in August 2007. Tom has been contracting his services to RSTR since January of 2008. |
