RSTR offers all types of operations training based on the specific needs of each of our customers

Simulation
We offer simulation training using a state of the art CORYS Simulator with CGI graphics and is DP/IDP equipped. Our portable simulator can be easily moved and set up almost anywhere. We also have the Track Building Tool which gives us the ability to build any territory specified by our customers.

Air Brake
Teaching and developing a good understanding of the theory behind air brake operation has always been a difficult part of operations training.  In order to visually enhance locomotive and car air brake training we are utilizing the CORYS Virtual Air Brake Rack simulator.

Engineer Training
We have several types of training available for engineers. Our programs provide technical expertise for engineer trainees, engineer recertification, and newly hired experienced engineers.

Engineer Trainee Program - Since every customer's submission to the FRA is different, each engineer trainee program can be different in content and length. But, there is some technical information that is basic to all programs. We cover basic definitions where, believe it or not, there is always something new to learn or understand.  Your trainees gain a working knowledge of basic air brake systems from an operator's point of view. This includes locomotive air brake and car air brake systems. The train's capabilities and your air brake rules are put into a context of safe, efficient train operation. If your needs call for training in some of the newest technologies, this type of training is available as well. We have years of hands-on experience with New York Air Brake's KNORR air brake systems, WABCO's EPIC air brake systems, electro-pneumatic air brake systems, and distributive and integrated distributive power systems. Train handling techniques and scenarios are discussed. Your operating rules, safety rules and hazardous materials rules can be part of the program. Time allowing, mechanical issues can be covered. We build each class to include daily homework, daily quizzes, and final exams. Our goal is for you to end up with a well-trained employee that can make safe, smart decisions based on the technical knowledge that he or she gains from the classroom. When we are done with this technical phase of training, the employee will be ready for on-the-job experience.

Engineer Recertification - We design programs that comply with your FRA submission. We take your rulebooks, talk with your managers to get a list of the rules you need covered and their proper interpretation, and we develop your program. Then we take the program to the field, administering the classes where needed.

Experienced Engineers - Perhaps you have hired engineers that have had some engine service experience with some other carrier. You want them to be brought up to speed on your rules. We design programs that will do this.

Conductor Training
The program gives a comprehensive understanding of the applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures based on your company's individual needs. The importance of proper reporting for revenue capturing is emphasized.

Brakeman Training - Our brakeman program takes new employees without any railroad experience and immerses them in the culture of railroading. We begin by discussing lifestyle issues and railroading as a way of life. We then give them a good understanding of railroad terminology and basic railroad operations. We cover your Safety Rules and instill the skill sets that will be necessary for them to perform their duties safely and efficiently. We give them several "hands-on-the-equipment" sessions so they can begin to learn how to identify car components and practice skill sets under our close supervision. We then return them to the classroom reinforcing their understanding of your operating and safety rules.

Integrated Distributive Power & Distributed Power Training - If you have need of specialized training on all functions associated with IDP and DP train operations, we have a program that will enable your work force to operate trains with these capabilities. We have completed several projects where we were able to bring work crews up to speed on these technologies, allowing for the safe and efficient movement of trains using this technology.
